• Obscure edible plants that are mostly known as ornamentals 

- did you know you can pickle magnolia buds? I didn't!

• Edible hedges of any sort

• Thyme, always thyme, particularly low thyme between stepping stones

• Tea plants of all sorts, and tea gardens

• Indigenous edibles

• Perennial vegetables 

• Edible climbers with attractive flowers, particularly evergreen ones.

• Traditional kitchen herb gardens

• Medicinal gardens

In terms of landscape features and themes, my current interests are:

• Arches

• Contemplation gardens

• Secret garden nooks for reading

• Mandala gardens

• Sensory gardens

• Walled gardens, garden 'rooms'

• Movable gardens

• Wicking beds built into seats, sit down harvesting

• Eating areas where you can pick your food from where you sit and eat it without getting up!
